Turkey to adopt decision regarding atomic power plant construction by late August

“Turkish government will make a decision regarding a tender on construction of an atomic power plant by late August,” Turkish energy minister Taner Yildiz said.
“Our estimations related to tender on construction of the atomic power plant is going on. We will make the decision by late August,” he said.

Turkey plans to build first atomic power plant near Akkuyu settlement on the Mediterranean coast.  

The tender involved a consortium of Russian Atomstroiexport, Inter RAO UES of Russia and the  Park Teknik (Turkey). In May, Agency for Atomic Energy of Turkey accepted the tender offer of the consortium which includes construction of four power units with capacity of 1200 MW for the Russian project AEC-2006 meeting all “Technological Criteria.”
