Kyrgyz presidential elections legitimate: Constitutional Court

The Kyrgyz Constitutional Court recognized presidential elections held on July 23 as meeting Kyrgyz constitution.
The Kyrgyz Constitutional Court made this decision at a meeting held on July 30, RIA Novosti said.

According the Kyrgyz Central Election Committee, Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev won the July 23 elections by 76 percent of votes. Candidate from Kyrgyz united opposition, Social-Democratic party leader Almazbek Atambayev took the second place with 8.4 percent.

"Constitutional Court examined materials based on protocols of Bishkek and Osh elections commissions delivered by central commission for elections and referendums on July 30. Constitutional Court decided that Kyrgyz presidential elections are legitimate," Supreme Court said.
