Deutsche Welle corrects one more error on Azerbaijan’s map posted to its Web site

30 July 2009 [15:54] - TODAY.AZ
As Day.Az earlier reported, Deutsche Welle news agency Web site’s Weather Forecast and Discover Europe sections included Azerbaijan’s map where Nagorno-Karabakh was marked in a format similar to state borders or as being not integral part of Azerbaijan.
For instance, Weather Forecast section looked like this which was gross violation of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity: http://usazeris.org/integrity/DW%20map%201%20-%20incorrect%201.jpg)

After Azerbaijani citizens applied to agency’s administration with a request to remove the errors, DW web designer ‘filled” the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan with blue (ie, the same color as the rest of the territory of Azerbaijan), but did not remove the bold marks which do not differ from the format of state borders. Thus, the map of Azerbaijan now looked somewhat different, which was also far from ideal:

Meantime, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transdniestria were not be marked on the maps of Georgia and Moldova, respectively.

On June 3, Day.Az published an article which called on Azerbaijan citizens and diaspora members to continue to insist on bringing the country's map to its proper form after which Deutsche Welle received a great deal of letters from Azerbaijanis. The result was not slow to come: the agency’s management instructed to replace the existing map in the Weather Forecast section with the one that was offered instead:

However, DW left unchanged an interactive map of Azerbaijan in the section Discover Europe in which the Nagorno-Karabakh was in contrast to Transdniestria, Abkhazia and South Ossetia was marked with state borders. Before correction it looked as follows:

On June 15, Day.Az published another article calling on Azerbaijanis to request the DW management to remove the last error and replace the wrong interactive map with the one that was offered:

All errors on Azerbaijan’s map were corrected recently.
