Famous Iranian singer urges world community to adequately react to events in Iran

The singer stated that there is a need for adequate reaction on the events in Iran. "I oppose all violence, wars and occupation, or the presence of foreign troops. I just think Iranians need freedom. The will not be able to make us afraid," Googoosh said.

The Iranian migrants in different countries have launched a hunger strike action on July 23 to uphold the opposition circles supporting Mir Hossein Mousavi - an Iranian presidential candidate losing the June 12 elections to incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad. The opposition believes the results of the elections have been falsified.

The main rally took place in front of the UN building in New York on July 22-25.

Googoosh is voicing her support for Iranian people and families, whose members were killed or detained in the election turmoil in the city of New York several days rally outside the UN building demanding the release of the political prisoners arrested held by the Islamic republic.

The current situation is awful, the singer said. "I'm worried, I came to the UN building to be the voice for the sad mothers and sisters who lost their loved ones in peaceful demonstrations, which turned out nightmare," she said.

"Our nation has a long road before it. I hope for Iran was freedom of election, for speech, for woman and children, for religion - we need to fight for that," Googoosh added.

The singer said that her will is to increase the interest of the world to the Iranian issues. "We are all together, and the whole world is watching us," she adds. "This is the duty of every Iranian to be involved in such kind of issues".
