NATO recognizes Azerbaijan, Georgia’s territorial integrity: alliance’s representative

“It is important for NATO that the conflicts which exist in the South Caucasus will be resolved peacefully. We support the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at a peaceful solution to the Karabakh problem. NATO supports peaceful  resolution of conflicts in the Caucasus and the world. NATO takes into account and recognizes territorial integrity of Georgia and Azerbaijan.”

“Azerbaijan is working on implementation of the IPAP and is an active participant in ISAF operations in Afghanistan. NATO is grateful to Azerbaijan for its growing contribution to the ISAF prior to the presidential elections in Afghanistan scheduled for 20 August. Azerbaijan is our valuable partner and we look forward to deepening and development of our relations,” he said.

NATO supports the Azerbaijani government’s intention to implement reforms in the sphere of defense, insisting that the sustained implementation of reforms is a major factor in the success and confirmed that NATO stands ready to assist Azerbaijan in this respect,” Appathurai said.
