“I, as a deputy, voice my determined protest against the distorted map of Azerbaijan, fixed on the number of websites of Georgia and Iran, said director of the Institute of History under National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan Yagub Mahmudov at a plenary session of Milli Medjlis Friday.
He said one of the Georgian magazines fixes the Keshkchi mountain of Azerbaijan, on which the monastery complex of David Gareji is located, as part of Georgia. This edition invites the tourists to visit this mountain.
“Therefore, I call to consider this issue on the level of the Azerbaijan-Georgia interparliamentary group of friendship”, said the deputy.
Mahmudov also noted that the Iranian websites fix Azerbaijan as their province and Caspian Sea as Mazandaran, “though they fix the territories of Armenia and Georgia with no distortions”.
“It is inadmissible for an Islamic state to fix Azerbaijan as its integral part. I think such steps contradict to our friendly relations therefore I urge to notify the due bodies of Iran about it”, noted Mahmudov.
