US Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon ends his visit to Azerbaijan

Gordon met with Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and representatives of the non-governmental organizations in the evening on June 11. President Ilham Aliyev didn’t receive the guest because of heavy working schedule.

Gordon visited Armenia before arriving in Azerbaijan. After the meeting with Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan, Gordon said a referendum on the status of Nagorno Karabakh could be held. “Any voting mechanism enabled people to express its will should be included in the solution process”, said US Assistant Secretary of State.
