The sixth round of discussions on consular matters was held between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Turkey on May 25-26, reports Day.Az with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

During the consultations the sides discussed the legal situation of citizens of both countries, residing in Azerbaijan and Turkey, ways to solve the difficulties they face, especially the situation of Azerbaijani citizens living in Turkey, the problems encountered during the deportation of Azerbaijani citizens, visa issues, the joint struggle against human trafficking, the recognition of the rights of citizens of Azerbaijan for the immovable property in Turkey, accommodation and registering Turkish citizens in Azerbaijan.
The participants in the consultation were representatives of the Ministries of Interior, Justice, Labor and Social Welfare, Frontier, immigration and customs services of both countries.
The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Chief of the Consular Department of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nadir Huseynov and the Turkish delegation by Head of Consular Department Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Kemal Gur.
Following negotiations, the parties signed a letter of intent.
The previous round of talks on consular issues between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Turkey took place in Ankara in 2006.
