The Azerbaijani-speaking students of the Tehran University held a protest action in front of the university on May 24. The protestors demanded Iranian ex-President Mahammad Khatemi to apologize to the Azerbaijani people, IRNA news agency reported.

Under the report, Khatemi told jokes for the Azerbaijani people and insulted them at the video spread recently. The Azerbaijani-speaking students of the Tehran University sounded slogans - "Till which time will we be insulted?", "Khatemi, Khatemi, shame on you", "Freedom, democracy and equal rights for everybody" and "Hey people, I am Turk."
The protestors adopted resolution at the end of the protest action. The resolution said Iranian ex-President Khatemi must officially apologize to the Azerbaijani people via television, instead of speaking about inter-cultural dialogue.
"We demand from the Iranian parliament and juridical bodies to adopt serious laws against persons insulting other nations basing on the human rights," the resolution reported.
