The Organization of Islamic Conference is considering to take further steps to develop a mechanism for resolving conflicts in the Islamic countries and for restoring peace, OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu told Trend News.
"In addition to the established policy in the conflicts in Palestine, Nagorno-Karabakh, Somalia, Kashmir, we consider the specific approach, for which a mechanism should be developed, Ihsanoglu said in Damascus on May 24 at the meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers.

The Secretary General said the closed ministerial meeting was devoted to developing new plans for resolving conflicts and taking new steps.

The meeting of Foreign Ministers focuses on consideration of future plans in providing material and political assistance to Islamic countries, including Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan.

Ihsanoglu said the Muslim countries' position is clear in solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict - to liberate the Azerbaijani territories.

"We support Azerbaijan's resistance to the Armenian occupation and demand the withdrawal of troops from the occupied territories," Ihsanoglu said.
