U.S. State Department official: Washington has to consider proposals on Azerbaijan's Gabala radar station

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for verification and compliance with arms control agreements Rose Gottemoeller stated that the US administration is open to the Russian proposal to replace the elements of American missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic with the Gabala radar station in Azerbaijan.

"I believe that this proposal deserves further consideration. As far as I understood from conversations with my Russian colleagues, the proposal is still valid. I think this is a proposal that the United States must consider", noted Gottemoeller.

She also said that the United States is ready for possible cooperation with Russia over missile defense system against short-range rockets specified in the framework of NATO, according to Polish edition gp24.pl.
