Member of the Turkish parliament says the "Road Map" signed between Turkey and Armenia on April 23 will benefit neither Azerbaijan nor Turkey.

"By signing this document Turkish officials made great and irreparable mistake," member of parliament from the Republican People's Party Canan Aritman told Trend News over telephone from Ankara on April 24.
The Turkish SABAH newspaper reported that the "Road Map" singed between Ankara and Yerevan comprises 5 paragraphs. According to the document, Armenia must accept the Kars agreement signed between Turkey and USSR in 1921. A joint commission of historians must be set up to investigate Armenians' "genocide" claims and the third country can join the commission. The Armenia-Turkey borders will be opened and relevant documents will be signed to launch trade relations. Direct diplomatic relations will be established after Armenia and Turkey accredit their ambassadors to Georgia to Ankara and Yerevan mutually. Parliament will directly discuss the issues of the "road map" which must be confirmed by any legislative body. According to SABAH newspaper, although the document does not comprise the Karabakh issue, the two countries will normalize ties simultaneously with the resolution of the conflict.
Turkish MP said both Erdogan and Abdullah Gul will lose their credibility in Azerbaijan and Turkey after the "Road Map" is signed.
"Unfortunately, Turkey surrenders some principal issues. Turkey protested against Danish prime minister's election as NATO secretary general. However, later president did not protest against it. Erdogan said borders will not open until Azerbaijan's occupied lands are liberated. However, the latest developments showed totally different things," he said.
He said it is inappropriate for the AK Party to sign the "Road Map" in an effort to prevent Obama from using the word "genocide" on the day of the so-called Armenian genocide.
"U.S. president will never use word "genocide". Because Turkey is one of the most faithful allies of the United States," he added.
He said the AK party government does not think about its nation. "Instead of thinking about million of unemployed people in Turkey, AK Party makes efforts to develop economy of a small Armenia," he added.
Aritman said opening of borders will further boost Armenia's aggressor policy.
