Turkish businessmen and students living in Azerbaijan held a rally protesting against the reopening of Turkey-Armenia borders, APA reports. The rally was held in Narimanov Park. Azerbaijanis also joined the rally. Holding posters “Do not forget Karabakh!”, “First Karabakh!” the protesters issued a message to Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
“20 percent of Azerbaijani territories are under occupation and about one million of Azerbaijanis are obliged to live far from their homes in Nagorno Karabakh. Nothing is more important than Karabakh, because Nagorno Karabakh is Azerbaijani land. We support Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict,” they said.
The authors of the message state that Turkey should continue supporting Azerbaijan for liberation of Nagorno Karabakh and return of the IDPS to their native lands and that closed borders with Armenia is to the advantage of our national interests. The signatures collected in the rally were presented to Turkish embassy in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani businessman Murat Eroglu told APA that the rally will continue for three days. Tomorrow the rally will be held in Huseyn Javid park and in front of the monument erected to Khojaly genocide.
