A conference on the 60th anniversary of NATO will be held in Baku on April 9, reports the press service for the Romanian embassy to Azerbaijan, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

The event will be attended by heads of the diplomatic missions of NATO member-states in Azerbaijan, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and defense of Azerbaijan, NISA (NATO International School of Azerbaijan), department of NATO public diplomacy and NGO representatives.
Sources reported that the conference is expected to be attended by official delegation from Brussels with composition currently specified via diplomatic channels.
The conference will hear a report on the history of creating an alliance, as well as its peacekeeping mission and NATO's role in the resolution of conflicts and so on.
Notably, Azerbaijan after gaining independence, established cooperation in the framework of the security structures of Europe, including NATO program of Partnership for peace.
In May of 2004 President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev presented "The Individual Partnership Actions Plan" to NATO secretary general. After ratifying this plan the Azerbaijani cooperation with NATO entered a new stage. Azerbaijani servicemen started to take part in the conflict areas in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo.
