The preparation of the visit of Ukrainian president Viktor Yuschenko to Azerbaijan planned for April 9-10 of this year is underway, according to sources in the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Boris Klimchuk on Monday held due meetings in the Foreign Ministry during which he discussed the preparation of the upcoming visit of president Yuschenko to Azerbaijan.
President Viktor Yuschenko will arrive in Baku to take part in the first sessionm of the council of presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine. This session will consider issues of cooperation in the oil and gas and military and technical spheres.
In the framework of the visit Yuschenko is also expected to discuss a number of issues of bilateral and regional cooperation.
The conduction of the first session of the council of presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine was planned for February but for technical reasons it was put off.
The council of presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan was created in May of the last year during the meeting of presidents Ilham Aliyev and Viktor Yushchenko in Kiev in the framework of the third energy summit.
The overall external trade turnover of Ukraine with Azerbaijan topped $705 mln through the second half of 2008, which is 59% higher as compared to 2007.
