Azerbaijan and Iran will hold two joint international conferences on astronomy in the framework of the year of astronomy in May and September of 2009.

According to Iranian Student's News Agency, these conferences date to the 750th jubilee of the Maraga observatory and 50th jubilee of the Shamakhy astrophysical observatory.
The conference on the jubilee of the Maraga observatory is schedule for May and will be held in Maraga, while the second for September to be held in Baku and Nakhchivan. The program of the conferences includes discussion of aspects of exploring space.
