Azerbaijan presents national report on human rights to UN Council

Azerbaijan presented a national report on human rights observance in the country, said the press service for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
By the information, the delegation of Azerbaijan led by deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov attended the presentation of the report by the instruction of the country president.

Khalafov, speaking at the presentation, informed in details about the measures, taken in connection with the preparation of the report, legal basis for provision of human rights and basic liberties and efforts aimed at strengthening of propaganda of principles of human rights and liberties.

The deputy minister noted that the referendum planned on March 18 is important for the further strengthening and development of human rights principles.

In his speech Khalafov also touched upon the improvement of the national legislation, reforms, held in the sphere of the judicial system, including the penitentiary system.

During discussions representatives of other countries highly evaluated the achievements in the sphere of provision of human rights and liberties as well as reforms held in most spheres, including the social-economic sphere.
