According to him, last year was marked by the mutual visits of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Poland, the participation of the Polish President Kachinski in the energy summit in Baku in November, participation of the speaker of the Polish Senate in the events on the 90th anniversary of Milli Medjlis, the visit of the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan to Warsaw in June and mutual visits of most representatives of the ministries, deputy ministers, deputies in the framewok of the conference and on the bilateral level.
"Our countries never had problems. The leaders of our country are communicating well, which is important. We always support Azerbaijan's intention to integrate with the Euroatlantic structures, we are cooperating in the sphere of diversification of energy supplies t Europe. This issue is urgent today. As you know, the conference on Nabucco project was held in Budapest this week and the issue of energy security is among the topics of the world economic forum in Davos... Our experts support Azerbaijan in its striving for WTO membership. I am optimistic about the future and I can state that last year was very important and positive in the relations between our countries", said the ambassador.
However, he said he is unsatisfied with the level of bilateral commodity turnover.
"Our commodity turnover, considering the potential of the two countries, is quite modest. Through 11 months of the last year it made just $116,000,000, while there are opportunities to raise it dramatically, including in agriculture and other perspective trends. We need to work on this issue", noted Kraevski.
As for the future prospects of cooperation between Baku and Warsaw considering the recent gas crisis between Russia and Ukraine, the ambassador said:
"I think the conflict between Russia and Ukraine proved importance and the need to diversify energy supplies. It turned out that Europe, including the EU states, such as Poland, Slovakia and Bulgaria, are too dependent on supplies from Russia.
Russia is a very important partner, a neighbor, close to us, a country, which has a great potential and large energy sources. But I think that the lesson, we have recently witnesses, proved the need to define other sources of supplies of oil and gas. The Caspian region is among such regions with its resources and potential. Azerbaijan is a stable country in this region and we have a very positive experience of cooperating with it. It is a reliable and serious partner.
For example, I am watching the operation of the BTC and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzirum pipelines and there have never been problems from the side of Azerbaijan, which could say that the country does not fulfill its commitments. On the contrary, Azerbaijan is executing all contracts, signed with other countries and companies, thus demonstrating a good sample.
I think all European states, taking part in the summit in Budapest, have already made due conclusions for themselves", concluded the Polish ambassador.
