OSCE MG co-chair of Russia Yuri Merzlyakov considers that Azerbaijan and Armenia may soon reach an agreement on basic principles of the Karabakh conflict resolution, said Yuri Merzlyakov, according to Interfax-Azerbaijan.

"I think if the parties demonstrate a political will, they may reach an agreement on basic principles and pass to working at the agreement".
The diplomat noted that the main goal of the current visit of the mediators to the region is assistance to the soonest adoption of the Madrid principles on solution and continuation of talks, proposed to the parties.
In turn, US co-chair Matthew Bryza announced that during the current visit the mediators will hold discussions on organization of the next meeting of the residents of Azerbaijan and Armenia which may be held in the framework of the Davos energy forum on January 29-February 1.
"The meeting of the presidents will depend on our talks in Baku and Yerevan. This month there is a good chance for talks. We hope and we believe that the meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia will really take place", noted Bryza.
After the meeting with the Azerbaijani leadership the co-chairs will leave to Yerevan.
The mediators are expected to make a statement by results of the visit to the region.
