Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry condemns Russia's supply of arms to Armenia

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is deeply concerned with the free delivery of arms in the amount of $800,000,000 to Armenia by Russia, Day.Az reports with reference to the press service for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.
As is reported the results of the work on checking information in mass media, allows to consider this information as true.

"The supplied arms will promote strengthening of the military potential of Armenia, which occupied a part of Azerbaijani lands. The Foreign Ministry considers that arms delivery promotes continuation of occupation of Azerbaijani lands", says the statement.

It also fixes that arms supply contradicts to the resolutions of the UN Security Council on Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, as well as resolutions of the UN General Assembly, adopted on March 14 of 2008 "On situation in the occupied lands of Azerbaijan".

"In particular, Russia violated the commitment not to undertake steps, which may promote continuation of occupation of Azerbaijani lands", says the statement.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also voices concerns in the context of friendly and strong ties with Russia and mediation of this country in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

"The Foreign Ministry considers that the arms delivery lays a special responsibility on Russia for development of the situation, connected with the conflict resolution. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry protests the fact of delivery of arms to Armenia and calls on Russia to take allmeasures to eliminate the results of this fact", said in the statement of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
