Vasil Kalinov has been appointed as new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Bulgaria to Azerbaijan, press service of Bulgarian president reported, according to AzerTac.

Vasil Kalinov is said to arrive in Baku in mid-January to perform his diplomatic mission.
Mr. Kalinov will substitute at this post Ivan Palchev, whose diplomatic mission ended on July 2008.
Prior to his departure, ex-ambassador of Bulgaria to Azerbaijan Ivan Palchev stated that after completion of his diplomatic mission he will retire and engage in book-writing to share his impressions on Azerbaijan. "I want that Bulgarians can receive detailed information about this remarkable and friendly country," the diplomat stressed.
