Day.Az reports that speaking at the event deputy chairman of the party Ali Ahmedov noted that deportation of Azerbaijanis from Armenia is among the most brutal crimes, facing Azerbaijanis throughout their history.
"In the 20th century Azerbaijanis were driven away from their historical lands, currently called Armenia. Now, 20 years have passed since the last deportation of Azerbaijanis from Armenia", said he.
Ahmedov noted that no Azerbaijani was left in Armenia after 1988. The party representative noted that all South Caucasus countries, except for Armenia, are multinational.
"Only Armenia is monoethnic in the South Caucasus, which proves intolerance of Armenians towards other cultures and nations", said Ahmedov.
Budag Budagov, head of the institute of geography of the academy of science of Azerbaijan reminded that many Azerbaijanis were deported from Armenia by Stalin's order in 1948-1953.
Chairman of the Great Creation Party, Fazil Gazanfaroghlu in turn offered to create a state committee for issues of deportation.
"The recognition of deportation of Azerbaijanis from Armenia should be the first step of this committee. On the whole, we need to demand compensation from Armenia for the ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijanis in 1988", said he.
