Day.Az reports with reference to the statement, released by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, on the next anniversary of the occupation of Zengilan region that Armenia is regularly pouring 2,100 cubic meters of wastes each day to the rivers of the region.
The polluted water flows to Araz river via its left branch Okhchuchay.
The statement says that chemical wastes flow to Okhchuchay from the Armenian Gacharan coal and molybdenum and Kafan ore processing plants without any cleaning, thus turning the river basin into a dead area. Microflora and fauna of the river have been fully terminated.
Moreover, nut and plane trees and other kinds of trees in the area of Tepmeshe in Zengilan, are fully terminated for using in production. Through the period of occupation Armenians committed arsons in the Bartaz and Vedjneli woods.
The arsons were also committed in Dash-bashi and Leshkar woods. The 40-50 year old nut trees covering an area of 55 hectares around these woods were cut. 350-400 year old oak trees were terminated in the Top and Shukutaz woods.
Currently, the trees, suitable for construction and furniture production, are cut and delivered to Armenia and sold to other countries. Narcotic plants are grown in the occupied lands.
