Candidacy of the acting prime minister Artur Rasizade ratified by the parliament of Azerbaijan for the post of the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan.

According to Novosti-Azerbaijan, 101 deputies voted "for", 2 voted "against" and one deputy abstained from voting.

Milli Medjlis has received an appeal of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev about the ratification of the candidacy of the prime minister of the country, said a source from the parliament.

As is reported, the head of the state presented Artur Rasizade's candidacy.

Sources from Milli Medjlis noted that Artur Rasizade's candidacy will be put for voting of deputies in the second half of the plenary session of the parliament.

Artur Rasizade is 73 years old.

Biagraphy in brief:

Artur Rasizade was born in Ganja in 1935. In the Soviet period he was the activist of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan. After graduating from the Azerbaijan Institute named after M.Azizbeyov in 1957 he started to work in the Azerbaijan Institute of Oil Engineering. In 1973 he became the deputy chief on the scientific work of the same institute. In 1977 he was the director of the Azerbaijan Mechanical Engineering Institute. He worked in the state plan of Azerbaijan SSR from 1978 until 1981.

From 1986 until 1992 he had been the deputy deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. In May of 1996 he again became the first deputy of the prime minister and on November of the same year he was appointed as the Prime Minister.

In early August of 2003 Artur Rasizade ceded his post to Ilham Aliyev, working as the first vice premier in the government of the country for three months.
