Serzh Sargsyan: "If Turkey establishes diplomatic relations with Armenia, it will have a definite influence on the resolution of the Karabakh problem"

"The only mediator in the resolution of the Karabakh problem is the OSCE Minsk Group. There are no other mediators", said Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

"The only mediator is the OSCE Minsk Group. Armenia has never appealed to any country with a request to undertake the mediatory mission", he said, according to the press service.

Sargsyan noted that the process of the resolution of the Karabakh conflict continues in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and "the invitation of President Dmitri Medvedev and his activeness in his issue are consistent.

"As for comments on Abdullah Gul's statement, I would like to note that I have no inclinations to comment on the statements of other figures, especially if our press publishes extracts, drawn from the context", said Sargsyan.

In this connection, the President noted that the key mediators are the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and "we did not reject their mediation mission".

"Yes, I am confident that Turkey may assist in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict and it is providing assistance even now: the visit of President Gul to Yerevan and continuation of the Armenian-Turkish talks is a good example of the settlement of complicated issues", said he.

Sargsyan also voiced confidence that "if Turkey opens borders and establishes diplomatic ties with Armenia it will have a definite influence on the resolution of the Karabakh conflict".
