Turkey has become a member of the UN Security Council for 2009-2010 by winning 151 out of 192 votes in the UN, said Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Khulusi Kilij at a press conference today.
He noted that Azerbaijan is also among the countries, which voted for Turkey's membership in the UN Security Council.
"Turkish diplomacy has been striving for it for about five years. This is a great responsibility before the world community, which entrusted a seat in the Security Council to Turkey. Our external policy is based on peace in the entire world", said the Turkish ambassador.
At the same time, he noted that being a member of the Security Council, Turkey will try to assist in the resolution of all frozen conflicts, including Armenian-Azerbaijan, on which the Security Council has adopted 4 resolutions.
