President of Uzbekistan to attend opening ceremony of memorial to Alisher Navoi in Baku

President of Uzbekistan Islam Kerimov will pay his first official visit to Azerbaijan on September 11-12.
In the framework of the visit President of Uzbekistan will attend the opening ceremony of a memorial to great poet and philosopher of the East, state figure Alisher Navoi.

According to Novosti-Azerbaijan, the memorial will be established in one of the central parks of Baku at the junction of the Azadlyg avenue and Najaf Narimanov's street.

The works on the reconstruction of the park are carried by the Baku mayor's office.

A pedestal of brown marble of 1.5 meters in height has been erected in the center of the park. A bronze monument of Alisher Navoi of about 2 meters in height to be delivered to Baku from Tashkent Friday, will be erected there on August 30. The authors of the memorial are Uzbek sculptors.

The area around the memorial is covered with white granite bars. Decorative trees and flowers have been planted around the fountain and along the park.

The project of the park reconstruction was developed by Azerbaijani and Uzbek architects.

Sources from the Azerbaijani embassy to Uzbekistan reported that about 10 agreements, reflecting cooperation between the two countries in the trade and economic sphere, in the sphere of natural protection, humanitarian field and others spheres, will be signed in the framework of the visit visit of the President of Uzbekistan.

The Presidents of the two countries will discuss prospects of development of bilateral relations in all spheres. Karimov is also expected to attend the ground breaking ceremony of a new building of the Uzbekistani embassy to Azerbaijan.

The visit will last for two days.
