Chairman of opposition Turkish National-Republican Party Deniz Baikal commented on the upcoming visit of country's president Abdullah Gul to Armenia, reports Day.Az.
"Armenia views Turkey as a country, which committed a genocide. On the one hand, it has dominating demands to Turkey and on the other hand-the facts of occupation in Azerbaijan. For many years Turkey has demanded to stop insisting on genocide and start discussions with Azerbaijan. This is a correct policy. But now when Armenia has not changed its position, work is carried out to establish warm relations. Turkey can frustrate Azerbaijan", said he at a meeting with media representatives in Izmir.
The politician also noted that for many years there has been such a concept as "different states, single people" between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
"The president will leave for Yerevan by an invitation to watch a football match. This situation should not upset our Azerbaijani brothers", reports Turkish website www.haber3.com with reference to Deniz Baikal.
