OSCE long-term mission of election observation in Azerbaijan to be launched in September

Members of the long-term observation mission of the OSCE Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights on presidential elections of Azerbaijan will arrive in Azerbaijan on September 7, said spokesman for Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Khazar Ibrahim.

He noted that the mission to comprise 30 OSCE ODIHR representatives will be led by Slovenian diplomat Boris Frlitz.

Ibrahim said the members of the OSCE short-term observation mission, including 450 people, will arrive in Azerbaijan just before the voting day.

"On the whole, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan has sent an invitation to the OSCE, EU, CIS, GUAM for observing presidential elections. Moreover, Milli Medjlis invited the parliamentary assemblies of OSCE, Council of Europe and CIS", said he.

Ibrahim also noted that PACE will send its 30 representatives, to be led by co-chair of this structure on Azerbaijan, Estonian deputy Andres Herkel, to observe the elections.
