Union for Democracy to nominate two candidates for presidential elections in Azerbaijan

The Union for Democracy is completing work for creation of a single election campaign team due to participation in the presidential elections of Azerbaijan, said chairman of the Classical Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Mirmahmud Miralioghlu.
He said three parties, represented in the Union-Classical Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Azadlyg party and National-Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, intend to participate in the presidential elections with two candidates.

In particular, a candidate from the Classical Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan will be Mirmahmud Miralioghlu and from Azadlyg party Ahmed Oruj.

"The final decision on the said issue will be adopted on August 2 at the session of the Supreme Medjlis of the party. Currently, the activists of the Classical Popular Front Party support various views regarding participation in the elections.

On the whole, both parties intend to participate in the elections. After this decision was adopted, there is a plan to create regional organizations of the election campaign teams in all regions and we will also appeal to the Central Election Commission for signature lists.

Depending on which candidate will pass registration and will have greater chances for presidential elections, another of the candidates for presidency will withdraw his candidacy", noted he.

Miralioghlu also added that the work on creation of the election platform is currently underway.
