Azerbaijan's Democratic Party calls on the government to intensify activity for non-oil sector development

A regular session of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan was held today, reports Day.Az with reference to the press service for the party.
As is reported the session was held with participation of the chairmen of regional organizations and the session participants discussed the sociopolitical situation in the country and in the world.

The session participants also voiced concerns about the established socioeconomic situation in the country. The party considers that in such situation the world food crisis may have a negative impact on the country's economy, therefore, the government should take steps for development of the non-oil sector.

The Democratic Party of Azerbaijan urges to conduct a number of measures for local production.

The party considers that considering the drop in dollar exchange rate, the government should pass to barter oil sale and to take measures to preserve the assets of the State Oil Fund.

Later the party's board discussed the situation established before presidential elections. The regional organizations of the party were set due instructions for definition of the tactics of participaton or boycott of presidential elections.
