Open Society Party's activists: "The Ministry of Justice does not want to register our party"

15 July 2008 [11:54] - TODAY.AZ
The Open Society Party will pass a decision about participation in the upcoming presidential elections during the party session to be held in late July, said party deputy chairman Nizami Mamedov.
He said the party fails to decide about participation in the elections as not all candidates were provided with equal conditions.

"The thing is not that some parties speak about the absence of the names in the lists of voters. There is no ideal electoral code in the world which would ensure democratic elections.

Political will is needed for conduction of elections in line with international standards. Yet, there is no political will at the moment, therefore, these elections will be held with greater violations", noted he.

as for which works are held in connection with the party's registration in the Justice Ministry, Mamedov said the following:

"They do not want to register our party. The Justice Ministry tells us in open that there are no violations in our documents, but we need to wait a little.

The party assesses this fact as an intention not to allow leader of our party Rasul Quliyev to the election process as currently he is able to oppose the authorities.

At the same time, the party activists hope that the issue will be settled in the near future".
