Ali Hasanov: "Some proposals of the Venice Commission were not taken into account as Azerbaijani parties failed to agree on principles of formation of election commissions"

On the whole, the Venice Commission, CE and OSCE approve the amendments, introduced to the Electoral Code of Azerbaijan, said chief of public policy department under presidential administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov.
At the same time, he noted that not all proposals of the Venice Commission on alterations to the Electoral Code have been taken into account.

"The fact that some proposals of the Venice commission have not been taken into account, does not imply that Azerbaijani authorities do not agree with them. This was caused by the failure of the political parties to agree on the principles of formation of electoral commissions and they had differences in this issue.

Therefore, the forms of previous election institutions have been preserved. Until the new and best form of commission formation is found, the elections will be held with commissions, formed in line with current conditions", said Hasanov.
