Activists of Azerbaijan's National Independence Party protest against inaccuracies in voters' lists

07 July 2008 [16:44] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijan National Independence Party voices protest against absence of party activists' names in the lists of voters, posted on the official website of the Central Election Commission, said party spokesman Ali Orujev.
He said the party had checked the names of 50 party activists and found only 15 of them.

In this connection, the party decided to set instructions to the regional organizations for checking the names.

"We have already made an oral appeal to the Central Election Commission. The party will soon register its protest officially, as the said fact is a sign of possible violations during the presidential elections in the country.

At the same time, the party assesses the said fact as an attempt to limit opposition votes", noted he.

As for the party's decision regarding participation in the presidential elections, Orujev said:

"The party has differing views regarding participation in the elections. Yet, I think the party should join the process".

The spokesman added that the problem with the place for conduction of the session has not yet been settled. It is planned to be held no later than September.
