Armenian delegation in PACE: "Armenia does not agree with the regulation of the PACE resolution on Azerbaijan related to the problem of territorial integrity"

Members of the Armenian delegation in PACE have voiced their categorical disagreement with the regulation of the PACE-adopted resolution on Azerbaijan, related to the issue of territorial integrity, at the PACE June session.

Member of the Armenian delegation Avet Adonts told reporters that regulation stating that democratic development is impossible without the settlement of the issue of territorial integrity is not Armenia's but rather Council of Europe's defeat.

"Binding democratic development to any other factors does not comply with the rules and the atmosphere of the Council of Europe. We have voiced this position at the session and almost all participants agreed with it, but, unfortunately, this paragraph was adopted at request of the rapporteur", said Adonts.

In turn, head of Armenian delegation in PACE David Arutyunuan said that such state is unacceptable for Armenia, noting that adoption of the resolution had a political subtext. "The problem of Russian-Georgian relations played significant role in this issue", noted the deputy.

PACE adopted resolution 1614 about functioning of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan in the framework of its summer session on June 25.
