Andres Herkel appointed head of CE mission to observe presidential elections in Azerbaijan

The CE bureau has appointed PACE co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan Andres Herkel the head of the mission of this structure to observe the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, said PACE president Lluis Maria de Puig at a briefing.
He noted that the mission will consist of 30 PACE deputies.

According to Puig, it was decided to appoint Herkel on the post of the head of the mission to observe the elections.

"Current elections are important for the Council of Europe. Much depends on them. PACE resolution fixes the actions Azerbaijan should take to conduct democratic elections", said the PACE president.
