Elnur Aslanov: "Opposition party bosses were sitting idle in their offices instead of getting ready to the election campaign"

"Any announcements of the opposition leaders that reduction in the term of the election campaign lowers possibility of democratic elections are absurd. These terms create equal opportunities for all participants of the political process in defining the strategy and conducting effective election campaign. 75 days are quite enough for the election campaign in the country with population making 8 mln people", said Elnur Aslanov, chief of department for political analysis and information supply of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan.

"Considering the logic of the opposition representatives, who say that reduction of terms evidences absence of democracy, one should doubt the presence of democracy in Finland, where such a campaign lasts for 30 days, France -25 days, Spain 15 days and other. On the whole, the election campaign lasts for 2 months in such countries as Italy, Great Britain, Poland, Germany, Czechia, Hungary".

Aslanov also considers that opposition's statement about the upcoming elections in the context of the reduction of terms is only a proof that for the past period opposition party bosses were sitting idle in their offices instead of getting ready to the election campaign".
