Eldar Namazov: "Opposition should learn to cooperate"

"I support the striving of each party for cooperation and I hope that the position of others will also be positive", said head of the forum "For the sake of Azerbaijan" Eldar Namazov, commenting on the intention of Azerbaijan's Green Party to join the five opposition parties.

He said the cooperation with the Green Party of Azerbaijan is a global and positive event.

"I would be very glad if the ideas of this party are propagandized and defended during our electoral process. On the whole, it is necessary to overcome this "bloc counteraction", overwhelming the opposition. Electoral blocs, supporting any candidates are inevitable, but in other issues opposition should learn to cooperate to oppose the authorities.

Through the last two weeks we have held two discussions on the electoral code and the pre-election situation in the country, attended by most parties and representatives of the civil sector.

Some rejected participation in these discussions, but for me it was positive that they involved most organizations of the bloc of five, all parties of the Association for Democracy, most of those, not joining the party blocs, including the Green Party of Azerbaijan. It is necessary to continue work in this direction", noted he.

He said regarding the idea of the Azerbaijani Intellectuals Movement and Our Azerbaijan bloc about support of his candidacy at the presidential elections:

"My candidacy has been nominated not long before. I do not want to speak ahead of time, but I think we are just at the start of the process of wide coalition formation.

Second, as is known there are tens of parties in the country, which usually do not nominate their own candidates for elections, but support those, who, they think, have higher chances for success. This is a kind of internal primaries, held before the candidates will struggle for votes during an official campaign", said Namazov.
