Co-rapporteurs of PACE Monitoring Committee to familiarize with functioning of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan

Co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan Andreas Herkel (Estonia) and Eugenia Zhivkova (Bulgaria) will visit Azerbaijan on May 17-21.
"The visit of the co-rapporteurs of PACE Monitoring Committee aims to compile additional facts about the activity of democratic institutions", Co-Rapporteur Eugenia Zhivkova (Bulgaria) told APA.

To her, the report is partially ready, but it should be amended. Therefore, the co-rapporteurs will meet with Azerbaijani President, Speaker of MM, National Security Minister, Chairman of Central Election Commission, political parties and heads of NGOs.

Eugenia noted that they would discuss amendments to the Electoral Code during the visit.

"We will discuss amendments to the Electoral Code and upcoming Presidential Elections with state officials during our visit to Azerbaijan", she said.

Eugenia added that they would make a report after the visit and it would be submitted to Assembly of PACE Monitoring Committee in Kyiv.

The full text of the report will be published in July Session of PACE.
