British State Secretary: "Great Britain supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan"

"Great Britain supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and considers Nagorno Karabakh its integral part".
The due announcement was made by State Secretary of the British Department for Foreign and State Affairs for European issues Jim Murphy at a press conference Wednesday.

"Great Britain is interested in the mutually appropriate solution of the problem", said he.

The resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, upcoming presidential elections, hydrocarbons transportation to the European markets, were the center of talks with Jim Murphy during his short-term visit to Azerbaijan.

"I have conducted meetings with President of the country Ilham Aliyev, deputy foreign minister Araz Azimov, president of BP-Azerbaijan and a number of political scientists, said Murphy during a press conference.

Commenting on the coming presidential elections and election situation in the country, the state minister noted that "it will be possible to say whether elections were democratic only after their conduction".

"Great Britain hope that free and fair presidential elections, scheduled for October of this year, will become a basis for democratic development in Azerbaijan. We will cooperate with Azerbaijan in this issue and are ready to provide support in this direction", he noted,

Speaking of the situation, established around mass medias in Azerbaijan, J.Murphy announced that freedom of media is among the most important factors of democratic development in the country.

"There is not a single imprisoned reporter in Great Britain and will never be", said the state secretary.

Commenting on the hydrocarbons transportation to the European markets, Murphy stressed Azerbaijan's role in this issue.

"During the meeting with the country's president, we have also discussed implementation of Nabucco project, in particular, possible export of Turkmen gas via Azerbaijan to the European markets", he announced.
