Elmar Mamedyarov: "Armenian leadership should change its policy"

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov, visiting Estonia, met with Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip.
The due information was provided by spokesman for Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Khazar Ibrahim.

The meeting participants discussed economic, energy, regional and international issues, including the Nabucco pipeline. E.Mamedyarov noted that Azerbaijan has necessary potential for implementation of the first phase of the project.

Prime Minister Ansip noted that Azerbaijan is Estonia's close partner.

During the discussion of regional issues Mamedyarov noted that Armenian leadership should change its policy.

The Minister noted that the fact of occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani lands and appearance of about 1,000,000 refugees during ethnic cleansing is the main threat for the region.

The meeting participants discussed need for undertaking due steps, aimed at expansion of cultural, tourism and business ties.

Mamedyarov then met with Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet. The Estonian Minister noted that the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict is only possible on the basis of the principle of territorial integrity.

Paet noted that an Honored Counsulate of Estonia will open in Azerbaijan soon. Mamedyarov noted that a permanent diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan will function in Tallinn. The Ministers of the two countries stressed need for signing a number of agreements.

The sides also discussed Azerbaijan's relations with NATO and European Union.

Mamedyarov met with representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Estonia and members of Estonian parliament, including Christina Ojuland and Eldar Efendiyev.
