Azerbaijan Democratic Party speaks against decrease of election campaign period

The Democratic Party of Azerbaijan held a session today, Day.Az reports with reference to the press service for the party.
The session participants discussed recent processes ongoing in the country.

In particular the party leadership discussed the recent visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the south-western region of the country.

Moreover, the debates were devoted to the recent talks on decreasing the period of the election campaign from four to two months. The party representatives voiced concern about the execution of this idea, as it will prove that the opportunities of the opposition in the presidential elections will be restricted significantly. The party is against the decrease and urges to consider the proposals presented by the Venice Commission.

The party representatives also voiced concern about the criminal situation, established in the country. They consider that such events occur because of the hard socioeconomic state in the country.

At the end of the session the sides discussed the party's participation in the coming presidential elections. It was decided to continue meetings in the regions and create election teams in each of them.
