Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister meets with Bulgarian Foreign Minister and speaker of Parliament

Elmar Mamedyarov, visiting Bulgaria, held a number of meetings with senior officials of this country.
The due announcement was made by the press service for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Thus, Mamedyarov met with speaker for Bulgarian parliament Geogdy Perinski.

During the meeting it was noted that the legislative bodies of the two countries maintain close contacts and it is necessary to intensify the activity of the groups of friendship in the parliaments.

The Minister informed the speaker of the Bulgarian parliament about Azerbaijan's position in the negotiation process on Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Mamedyarov also spoke of Azerbaijan's policy of integration into Europe and Euro-Atlantic area.

Moreover, Mamedyarov met with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivaylo Kalfin.

Kalfin highly assessed political cooperation between the countries and noted the energy and transport spheres as a priority.

Mamedyarov, in turn, invited his counterpart to Azerbaijan and stressed importance of cooperation in the non-oil sector, such spheres as agriculture and tourism.

Touching upon Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mamedyarov thanked Bulgaria for its position on this issue.

Moreover, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan proposed Bulgaria to join the initiative "GUAM friends in the European Union".

A memorandum on consultations between the Foreign Ministries was signed upon the completion of the meeting.
