Safar Abiyev receives representative of US Defense Department

The due information has been provided by the press service for the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting the Minister stressed importance of integration with the Euro-Atlantic area and noted that positive results were reached in restoration and development of relations in military sector. He noted that works are currently implemented for bringing the armed forces in compliance with NATO standards.

Abiyev noted touching upon the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict that the slowdown of the peaceful resolution of the problem causes tensity in the situation and there are no guarantees that this will not lead to undesirable consequences.

Feit stressed reforms in the armed forces of Azerbaijan and noted that Azerbaijan and the United States are strategic partners in war on terror.
