Armenian deputy: "I do not remember a single case when Armenia disagreed with proposals made by the OSCE Minsk Group"

12 April 2008 [10:54] - TODAY.AZ
Armenian parliamentarians assess the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group positively and consider its current format to be the most optimal.
The due announcement was made by Armenian parliamentarians during a briefing in the parliament.

None of the parliamentarians gave negative assessment to the announcements of Matthew Bryza in the context of critics addressed to him by speaker of parliament Tigran Torosyan. Only the member of Flourishing Armenia faction Avet Adonts noted that Matthew Bryza's style is a little bit "unusual".

"Not all Americans adhere to such a style. It is a little bit unusual to us but I think that the development of US-Armenian relations is more important than any announcement of M.Bryza, which often become a subject for speculations", said Adonts.

Member of Heritage faction Larisa Alaverdyan in turn said she does not understand the resentment caused by the statements of Matthew Bryza, whose activity is positive, as he voices the facts that have been contained in the negotiation documents since 1992".

She said not only the National Assembly but also the political and diplomatic representatives of Armenia have ever proposed any initiative in the issue of the so called "Nagorno Karabakh Republic". "I do not remember a single case when Armenia disagreed with proposals made by the OSCE Minsk Group", said Alaverdyan.

Member of Dashnaktsutun party Grair Karapetyan said that Armenian parliament should be more radical in its position on Nagorno Karabakh. "We are not a diplomatic corps and we are not the direct participants of negotiations. The deputies should display more radical approaches", the deputy noted.
