I do not support nomination of a single candidate, as I think that this is a vestige of socialism, said Umid party chairman, MP Igbal Aghazade, commenting on possible nomination of a single candidate by opposition.
"The issue of a single ideology existed in period of communism, therefore, it is unwise to return to the past", said the parliamentarian.
Asked whether the issue would be possible in case of the first round of elections, he said neither the opposition nor non-party members would be able to gain significant number of votes, it would be possible to speak of a single candidate.
According to him, the UMID party has chosen a method of presenting information about the candidate to SMS subscribers and also distributed about 10,000 leaflets among voters.
"However, the party was not able to prevent some unpleasant clashes, in particular, detainment of party activists in Barda, Lenkoran and Yevlakh".
He said the action is aimed to familiarize voters with the candidate from opposition.
"The problem of all voters is that they know the candidate from the working powers well, yet they do not know the candidate from opposition, his party belonging or surname", said the parliamentarian. Therefore, it is necessary to familiarize voters with him. It is necessary to compare a candidate from opposition with other candidates from opposition. When we compare the candidate from opposition with authorities, he always losses the elections", he concluded.
