Professor of Johns Hopkins University: "Imagine that you hired me to paint walls, but I failed to do it for 10 years. The activity of the OSCE Minsk Group is like this"

07 April 2008 [10:02] - TODAY.AZ
I think the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries should have taken a neutral position while voting on the resolution, adopted by the UN General Assembly.
The due announcement was made by Fred Star, professor of US University of Johns Hopkins, visiting Baku by invitation of Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.

He considers that the position of the co-chairing countries in voting should not be taken into account.

"The process, connected with the Minsk Group, has been too long and yielded no results. Imagine that you hired me to dye walls and I failed to do it for 10 years. The activity of the OSCE Minsk Group is like this", said the professor.

"The process connected with the Minsk Group, has been bankrupted, as Russia interferes the resolution, while the United States and France are not able to speak against it openly. Armenia is a double captive in this sense -on the one side, Armenia is captured by the Karabakh dynasty and on the other side by Russia. The most tragic is that Armenians accepted it on a goodwill basis.

He stressed the rapid development of Azerbaijan, mentioning the implementation of wide scale projects with participation of Georgia and Azerbaijan, and noted the self-isolation of Armenia.

He voiced the US support for the implementation of the Transcaspian project and added that the European countries are becoming aware of Azerbaijan's importance.

"Minsk group can say what it wills, but I can state that time is on your side. It should be noted that Armenians are getting rid of many years of illusions. They realized that a small group have stolen a system of voting in their country and this system becomes cruel when it has to defend itself", the professor added.
