"The cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO is currently on a high level. Modernization and assistance to permanent combat readiness of Azerbaijan'sarmed forces is carried out in cooperation with NATO. In the result of cooperation Azerbaijan provides services to world society and executes them", he noted.

Mamedov said that Azerbaijani servicemen are currently serving in the peacekeeping divisions of NATO in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"Though Azerbaijan is not the member of NATO, but the servicemen of most NATO member-states and partners have not been in Iraq and Afghanistan. Azerbaijan was among the countries, who sent their military men", the official said.

According to Mamedov, the NATO-Azerbaijan cooperation is developing successfully in all spheres, both in modernization and raising combativity of the Azerbaijani armed forces and in securing peace and stability in the world.
