Armenians openly lay claims to Georgian lands

29 March 2008 [17:59] - TODAY.AZ
Armenians, who state that Nakhchivan is a territory of Armenia, lay claims to Georgia's Akhalkalaki region and the territory of Turkey, which they call Western Armenia.
This is proven by the article "Memorials in Georgia and Western Armenia are thinning out", published in the edition of newspaper Les Nouvelles d'Armenia, issued in France on March 24.

The article says how Samwell Karapetyan, head of the notorious organization "Exploration of Armenian memorials" explored khachkara-memorials in a form of Armenian crosses during the visit to this or that region.

The scientist, who stated that there is a great number of khachkars in Ahalkalaki region, locating on the border of Georgia and Armenia, announced that he had taken a photo of them.

Karapetyan, being loyal to traditions of his ancestors to armenize memorials and music of other peoples, states that he has discovered an Armenian khachkar of the year of 1475 and that there is a great number of khachkats of the 14th and 15th centuries.

At the same time, he informs readers with no shame and "with pain in his heart" that their chronicle was not carried out and they still remain unknown. Thus, "the scientist" makes a stir saying that Armenian churches and khachkars in Georgia are ruined, the number of ancient churches which are symbols of Armenia, are becoming lower and they will soon be fully ruined.

Karapetyan, not directly mentioned Turkey, "forgot" to recall the territorial claims of Armenia against Turkey and just mentioning Western Armenia, said openly that he ignores Turkey stating that Armenian khachkars also exist on the said territory. In order to prove that these lands are also historical lands of Armenia, he stated that he discovered a khachkar of 927, presenting the ruins of Armenian monastery named Mekopi in Western Armenia as a terrible tragedy of the Armenian people.
