The Azerbaijan Council for Press has sent an appeal with a request to pardon the editor-in-chief of the Azadlyg newspaper Ganimat Zahid, who has been sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment, to the Pardon Commission under the President.
The due announcement was made by Aflatun Amashov, head of Azerbaijan's Council for Press.
Thus, the appeal says that Zahid is an editor-in-chief of the printed media, famous in Azerbaijan and he has four children to take care of.
Amashov noted that he has previously sent appeals to the said commission with a request to pardon reporter of Azadlyg newspaper Mirza Sakir and editor-in-chief of the Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper Eynulla Fatullayev.
It should be noted that the Council has recently sent an appeal to the Baku Appellate Court with a request to soften Ganimat Zahid's punishment.
